Drainage, Irrigation and Wetlands Improvement Project	World Bank	Irrigation Uzbekistan	Feb 2004	US$74.55 million  project is aimed at increasing productivity of irrigated agriculture, employment and incomes in Karakalpakstan, improving water quality of the Amu Darya river by safe disposal of drainage effluent, and enhancing the quality of wetlands in the Amu Darya delta.

The Pakhtaabad canal pilot proeject (Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan)	USAID	Managerment Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan	Jan 2001 to Aug 2002	USAID’s comprehensive, large-scale pilot project on the Pakhtaabad Canal (serves Andijan, Uzbekistan and Jalalabad, Kyrgyzstan) demonstrates how cost effective technologies and automation systems can improve water control and management along major existing watercourses.
Economic and Ecological Restructuring of Land and Water Use in the Khorezm Region	BMBF (Germany)	Management Uzbekistan	2002	The basic idea of the project is to designate part of the area currently used for agriculture for ecological purposes. Possible losses in agricultural production are to be compensated for through more efficient but sustainable land and water use based on the introduction of modern and profitable agricultural production systems.

Central Asia Natural Resources Management Program (NRMP)	USAID	Management Uzbekistan Tajikistan Kyrgyzstan Kazakhstan Turkmenstan	at the present	NRMP funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), provides technical assistance in improving management of critical natural resources in the five countries of Central Asia. The project is carried out by PA Consortium which consists of PA Consulting Group, Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI), Counterpart International, Winrock International, and over 20 other subcontractors.
